SHIV SHAKTI.

Travelling long back to Brahma Loka the God of all Gods, Lord Shiva was passionately in love with Mahasahkti and Lord Shiva wanted to marry Mahashakti. Mahasahkti is the divine mother she is the creative force who manifests the entire universe including all the Gods and Goddesses. She is the active side of Brahman the absolute cause of the universe (Soul) that contains everything but is neutral, non-active, beyond it all. Mahashakti is too unvisual to marry anybody. Mahashakti tried to explain this to Shiva but lord shiva was in deep love with her. Unfortunately, she had to reject his love humbly, later Shiva did nothing but sit in the cave and meditate. Without his presence, the world started to fall apart. The evolutionary cycle of creation, supervision, and devastation lost its dynamism and began to run down. The earliest Ardbanarishwar dates to the Kushan period starting from the first century CE. Its iconography evolved and was perfected in the Gupta era. Adrfhanarishwar represents the synthesis of masculine and feminine energies of the universe (Purusha and Prakriti) Shiva is the male principle of God and Shakti also known as Parvati is the female principle of God.
